Our vision for nature-positive future for Bangladesh
Our goal is to use ecosystems to their full capacity and empower communities in Bangladesh so that the country can become a more environmentally conscious place to live. Our goal in the Khulna division is to integrate ecological services with community needs in order to break down the barrier that separates humans from nature. Regenerative agriculture, organic design, and inclusive decision-making are the main focuses of sustainable urban development, which is turning Khulna into a lush, biodiverse, and self-sufficient metropolis. Decentralised governance and education enable rural communities to maximise ecosystem health and local economy by enabling them to sustainably shape their landscape. Community-led projects, green infrastructure, and circular economy principles all contribute to coastal resilience, which protects vulnerable populations and restores important ecosystems like the Sundarbans. These pillars work together to foster peace between people and the natural world, opening the door for Bangladesh to become resilient and prosperous despite climate change.
Our choices for a specific region
A comprehensive strategy integrating Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) concepts and nature-based remedies is suggested for Khulna, a region with salinity, flooding, and water scarcity. Wetland restoration for ecosystem services, participatory agroforestry to improve soil quality and biodiversity, and floating beds for year-round food production are some of the actions taken. Urban agriculture and mangrove embankments support food security and coastal protection, while tidal river and urban wastewater management strive for resilience and water reuse. Sustainable development is ensured by environmentally friendly coastal engineering and circular shipyard transformation, while mixed prawn farming combines aquaculture and mangrove conservation. These tactics support Khulna's economic development, empower local populations, and lessen environmental problems.
